What affects the price
Roadside jump start pricing generally comes down to a handful of factors:
- Where you are. A jump start in the middle of Oxford costs less to get to than one 20 miles out toward Water Valley or Taylor.
- What time it is. Some companies charge more outside normal business hours — we don’t operate outside our posted hours at all, so this isn’t something you’ll run into with us.
- What’s actually wrong. A straightforward jump start is one price; if it turns out you also need something else looked at, that changes things.
- How the company prices its base call-out fee. Some charge a flat rate, others price by distance or by the hour.
What you should ask before agreeing to anything
Any roadside company worth calling should be able to answer these on the phone, before they ever leave to come find you:
- What’s the total cost for a jump start at my location?
- Does that change if it turns out to be something other than the battery?
- Do you charge extra for distance or time of day?
- What payment methods do you take?
If a company won’t give you a straight answer to those questions, that’s worth noticing.
